CURRICULUM VITAE (2024): View PDF
Welcome to my portfolio. My name is James, but feel free to call me Jim*.
I am a level and narrative designer living in the Greater Vancouver Area of British Columbia, Canada. Before games I spent more than 6 years following a career path towards medicine or medical research.
Ever since I took the leap into games, I have been fortunate to work with large companies like CAPCOM and SEGA. However, my journey in the games industry has also taken me to groundbreaking independent studios, like Hinterland Games.
A total of eight published games now include content and gameplay I’ve collaborated on.
Being an avid reader, writing fiction and poetry quickly became a compulsion I chose to indulge in. A recent writer’s circle I joined had a focus on creative writing for our own memoirs. This presented an interesting challenge by requiring me to include and reflect on myself as a participant in the story. I frequently seek to challenge myself on the journey to improve my story-crafting and world-building skills.
I also have fun playing with Lego, tinkering with PCs or older electronics, and exploring nature. My adventures have led to camping in the rainforests of Amazonía del Ecuador as well as jungles on the island of Madagasikara.
Some topics that fascinate me include studying my Irish ancestry and a variety of bird species.
*Fun fact: Jim Dodge (not me) is the name of an American author and creator of the book Fup, which is about Fup Duck as you can imagine 🦆 🤬
