Became more active on twitter @dodgethistweet and less focused on blogging. Got laid off, hired again at an amazing new company called Hinterland Games. Went to GDC. Discovered the work of Christopher Alexander. Turned 30.
And, along with developing my own science-fiction universe set in the far future, an old game idea has come back into my life with a renewed sense of purpose:
It seems like a much clearer idea, and has a new set of unique constraints. Hopefully, thinking about this project will allow me to further develop my design abilities, and integrate some of the new knowledge I have gained in the past few months. And possibly I will mix in some lore from my science fiction writing.
The pillars are:
1) A handful of real, physical tools with many configurations
2) Encourage trading and discussion between players in-game
3) Modifying familiar patterns yields surprising new results
Signing off for now, I will reveal more details in a few months.
